Student Apartments
Students reside in furnished 2 bedroom apartments with one roommate in downtown Berkeley, California. Student apartments are located directly above our main offices at the Library Gardens apartment community. Residential goals are focused on obtaining greater competency and success at independent life. The residential staff work to assess and teach skills necessary for independence.
Students receive support and instruction in apartment maintenance and cleaning in scheduled weekly appointments. Also part of the residential program is supervised menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking instruction. Staff assess your needs, and work to increase competency and independence in daily living.
As skills improve, you can demonstrate the need for less supervision in each area, and take a step toward greater independence.
Social Life
Social life at CIP is an important component of the residential program. You are afforded the opportunity to develop lasting friendships and social networks.
The diverse student population comes from all across America as well as several foreign countries. The CIP community strives to foster a supportive environment in which all individuals are affirmed, and differences are valued.
In addition to 3-4 weekend activities, an elected Student Government plans and organizes social activities, fundraisers and community service events. This fosters leadership and allows students to participate in the development of the program.
Optional Student Educational Cultral Experience
A foreign trip is planned during the student break in March each year. Students study the itinerary, history, language and culture prior to leaving.
While these trips are a learning experience, there is ample time for fun and socialization. Read more
